10 September 1996 - SKAT Give Evidence to National Audit Office

The full contract between the Scottish office and the builders of the Skye Bridge are to be scrutinised by the National Audit Office.

Members of SKAT gave evidence in Edinburgh to the Audit team which is investigating the Bridge. Among the submissions were photocopies of the parts of the concession and development agreements between the Scottish Office and the bridge company which had been made public at the first trial for non-payment of the tolls earlier this year.

The submission made by SKAT left out 48 pages of the concession document and 57 of the concession document. These were held back by the Scottish Office due to commercial sensitivity. When the Audit Office read the submissions, they called for the original agreements to be sent to them from the Scottish Office.
