S.K.A.T. Annual General Meeting 2001
WHEN?    27th January 2001

WHERE?  Tigh Na Sgire, Portree, Isle of Skye

This will be SKAT's fifth Annual General Meeting and we are hoping that as many members as possible will take the trouble to come along.

This year in particularit is vital that we push our arguments from removal of the tolls from the Skye Bridge. It is likely there will be a General Election in May 2001 and if ever there was a time when politicians listen to their constituents and take note of their problems it's during the run up to an election. There is, therefore, a lot to be gained if SKAT uses its influence in the coming months. We intend to target not only Ross, Skye and Inverness West Constituency but other constituencies where seats are vunerable and where we have support. We know we can put pressure on the politicians to come on our side.

In the past, we have persuaded the Government to:-

And shortly we expect that

We also currently have 2 MEP's working on the injustice of the tolls on our only access road connecting to a national network.

SKAT is, and always has been, a democratic organisation and we now look to our membership to come along to the AGM and help support the campaign at this vital stage. We welcome assistance from ANY member who is willing to give a little time and effort and would like to be more involved in the campaign.

Any questions regarding the AGM or offers of any help you may be able to give the campaign, please contact the present Vice Chairman:-
